I am originally a California native, turned Third Culture Kid, when I moved to Hong Kong at the age of 11. I first met my husband, Andy, in high school at Hong Kong International School, though we certainly never anticipated romantic involvement at the time! Ten years went by before we reunited at a mutual friend’s wedding and found ourselves saying our own vows just 10 1/2 months later.
He is my best friend in the whole world. My rock, partner in crime, comic relief, and some time dance partner. (Think..ridiculous white man dancing around the kitchen!) We have many adventures together. Mostly in the great and bewildering world of parenting these days…but we do still get out for our own adventures from time to time. Here we are last year in Switzerland:
I am a ‘retired’ elementary school teacher who now stays home with our two beautiful daughters:
Trinity, 7 – imaginative, compassionate, social butterfly, awarded ‘Most Cheerful’ in her kindergarten class and ‘sweetest friend’ by her first grade class.
Lilly, 2 1/2 years – all giggles, wiggles, and determination, usually put to good use finding anything not suitable for a 2 year old to play with. She also loves to join me cooking in the kitchen and is an expert “stirrer.”
These girls bring me immeasurable joy (as well as the occasional need for a bubble bath and a glass of wine!).
What else brings me joy? Food (cooking, eating, I like it all), photography (I didn’t say I was any good, but I enjoy it!), travelling, family adventures, friends, and most of all God who has shown me true Joy comes from Him no matter what circumstances life brings.
Since moving back to the states for college I’ve lived in Seattle, Phoenix, Lodi, CA, and Fallbrook, CA. I have yet to move to a place that I didn’t love. We currently reside in Utah and are having fun exploring all the hiking, camping, and natural beauty this state has to offer before Andy’s job moves us elsewhere. And, for this warm weather girl, I’m quite proud of how I’ve adapted to life in a climate where it snows! Skiing and snowshoeing have been adopted.
This blog is an outlet for me to catalog adventures in all of the above! Thank you so much for checking out the site! If you share any similar interests, feel free to pop by and see what we’ve been up to, leave a comment with your thoughts, or sign up to follow!
